Kitchen & reception rooms:

Being a glamping destination, the kitchens and communal spaces at Firefly Estate as rather different from our usual venues. Each yurt offers its own deck surrounding the yurt, as well as a private kitchen, and firepit area with BBQ facilities a short distance away. The kitchens offer a gas stove, a cooler box, running water, pots and pans, and tea and coffee-making facilities. This makes this venue particularly appealing for large gatherings, as individuals maintain a little privacy in their living quarters while having plenty of communal space to connect with the rest of the group. Guests have the option of preordering food online from local grocers, which can make life a little easier. On arrival, you will be given a squirrel-proof airtight box for storing non-refrigerated food. 

The main communal building, known as The Cowshed, fulfills a number of functions. It was built on the site of the old cattle shed, with a large terrace on either side. This building houses eight bathrooms, as well as ample indoor space for entertaining and relaxing with fellow guests. A large TV on the wall provides entertainment on rainy days, while a freestanding log burner warms the space. This building features two comfy sitting nooks with comfy sofas, a little kitchenette, and the TV zone. The terraces are arranged so that guests can enjoy the morning sun from the upper terrace, and the afternoon sun from the main terrace. The main terrace also offers an outdoor kitchen where guests can arrange a catered BBQ meal for a fixed fee, however, this is usually only available to groups of 10 or more.

Bedrooms:

Firefly Estate offers 13 yurts, divided into 8 larger ones, and 5 smaller, "couple +" yurts. The larger yurts offer 3 double beds each and generally sleep 4-6 guests. The smaller yurts offer a double bed and a single and can sleep 2-3 guests. Each of the yurts is built using traditional methods with 5 layers for insulation, one of which is a layer of 100% Mongolian sheep wool felt, which insulates the yurt, keeping it cool in summer and warm in winter. Each of the yurts features a log burner at its center, which heats the space in cooler months. It is generally possible to add an extra bed on request if need be. Additionally, a few of the yurts are pet friendly, so nobody needs to be left behind.

Firefly Estate is perfectly positioned for all manner of activities and explorations. Located in the beautiful woodlands surrounding the Porth Reservoir, this location boasts an impressive 62 acres of historic estate grounds for guests to explore. The Porth Reservoir is a great option for fly fishermen and landscape painters alike. The grounds themselves offer a real opportunity for guests to disconnect from the chaos of 21st-century life. Those who enjoy surfing or other sea-based activities will be pleased to know that Firefly Estate is a short drive from the famous Newquay Beach, where guests can enjoy numerous coastal activities. Additionally, the estate is located 5 minutes away from the A30, making it an ideal base for exploring Cornwall and its many tourist attractions. The city of Truro is a short drive away and offers all sorts of intriguing and wonderful things to do and see. Those traveling with children might enjoy The Japanese Garden, Trewithen, The Eden Project, or The Lost Gardens of Heligan. On rainy days, guests can venture out to visit the Blue Reef Aquarium, Newquay Zoo, Holywell Bay Fun Park, Dairyland Farm World, or the Screech Owl Sanctuary.
